Did you know that all 5 senses will decline as we age? What is “normal” aging anyway?! Changes to our body will progress at different rates for different people, but the aging process is inevitable. Chronic conditions (Arthritis, Osteoperosis, Heart Disease, COPD, Macular Degeneration, Dementia, etc.)  make normal aging that much more challenging! Did you know that age alone is not a fall risk factor, but that many conditions associated with aging will increase our risk of falls? Know your risk!  “You can’t cure falls with pills.” In fact, if you are on four or more medications or a single high risk medication you are at a higher risk for falls. Confronting changes in vision, hearing, bones and muscles, hearts, lungs, brains, etc. may feel like an uphill battle, but you can take charge of your life and maintain your independence by taking steps, such as: maintaining/increasing activity levels, having your vision and hearing checked, having your medications reviewed, drinking plenty of fluids, talking with your doctor, and identifying household hazards! The fear of falling itself can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. We hope you find what you are looking for on our site.
